Environmentally Friendly Materials
Dura-Foam Roofing Materials are Environmentally Friendly
Spray polyurethane foam is a petroleum-based product. Interestingly, the raw petroleum used to manufacture the materials in your roof system will get off-set after just a few seasons via energy savings. Also, this material is sustainable because it has a service life that will last the lifetime of your property. Since all work is done from the outside of the building, life on the interior can proceed as usual during the construction process. The blowing agent used in the Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) contains no chlorofluorocarbons (CFC's).
You can "rest" assured the Dura-Foam Roofing System is made with environmentally friendly materials that are safe enough to sleep on.
"Rubberized" Acrylic Roof Coatings
Elastomeric Cool Roof coatings contain acrylic, like house paint. The main difference is that our coatings contain a lot more acrylic solids that allow them to be applied much thicker and also help them stay flexible with extreme exposure to weather and rain. The acyllic coatings we use are substantially more flexible than normal paint and is sometimes referred to as rubberized coating. The coating is low VOC, water based, and safe to work with. After only a day it cures to become 100% inert.
Dura-Foam Roofing Materials Are Safe Enough to Sleep on
The SPF used in the Dura-Foam Roofing System has molecular composition similar to that of memory foam, which is used in high quality mattresses. There are two key differences between memory foam and SPF foam roofing. First, memory foam is open cell, as opposed to the closed cell foam used in foam roofs (i.e. closed cell foam is waterproof and insulates well, while memory foam acts more like a sponge). Second, memory foam is not rigid like the closed cell foam roofing materials. Walking on a completed foam roof feels similar to walking on a concrete sidewalk. Pillows and mattresses are made with polyurethane foam. Dura-Foam Roofing has invested millions of dollars in the best polyurethane foam processing equipment so that you can "rest" assured that the closed cell foam in your roof system is properly applied.
